Richard Owen, former executive director of the World Airline Entertainment Association (WAEA), has founded a new consultancy firm called GlobalPoint Group.
Reston, Virginia-based GlobalPoint Group specializes in providing international market access, product positioning and strategic planning solutions for the in-flight entertainment and communications (IFE&C), aviation, consumer electronics and agricultural industries. Owen holds the title of CEO.
While at the WAEA, Owen spearheaded a major strategic shift in the organization to build partnerships with both competitors and related trade organizations in pursuit of improvements to the airline passenger experience. The alliances spanned the consumer electronics, aviation, motion picture and trade exhibition industries.
Prior to that, as director of agricultural affairs for the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR), Owen managed a portfolio that included Russia and Eastern Europe, India, Indonesia, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, South Africa and Israel.
Before joining USTR, Owen was the head of two trade associations in the agricultural industry.
