France has ordered an additional seven Airbus Helicopters Tiger HAD attack rotorcraft, as part of a 2015 budget update.
Deliveries of the helicopters will take place in 2017-18 and will bring the French army’s Tiger inventory to 67.
Equipped with a 30mm turret-mounted cannon and side-mounted hard points for a variety of weapons, the helicopter can also be operated in the maritime environment.
To date, 120 Tigers have accumulated more than 68,000 flight hours in service with France, Germany, Spain, and Australia.
The type is also vying for selection in Poland, where the nation is in the process of replacing its aged Mil Mi-24 fleet.
