According to projections by Gifas, the French aerospace industry association, 2005 will have seen 5,000 new staff hired in the French aerospace sector, 14% of whom will be on fixed-term contracts. This compares to 5,500 new recruits for 2004 – 13% of whom were on fixed-term contracts. French aerospace companies employed around 130,000 people at the end of 2004, with a total of 53,000 people employed as technicians.
