Diamond Aircraft has selected Garmin International's G1000 integrated flightdeck for its DA42 TwinStar all-composite piston-twin aircraft. The all-glass G1000 was launched in April when the system was chosen by Cessna for installation in the Citation Mustang entry-level business jet.

The TwinStar flightdeck will feature 255mm (10in) liquid-crystal primary flight and multifunction displays in landscape orientation. Garmin will also supply dual integrated radios combining VHF communication and navigation with wide-area augmentation system-capable GPS satellite positioning and an instrument landing system.

Completing the suite will be a Mode-S transponder with traffic information service; solid-state attitude and heading reference system; digital air-data computer; and digital audio control system.

The displays will present traffic, terrain and weather datalink information as well as engine instrumentation for the DA42's twin digitally controlled Thielert turbo-diesel powerplants. Deliveries of the TwinStar are scheduled to begin in 2004.
