Guangzhou Aircraft Maintenance and Engineering (GAMECO) has completed work on its first 3C-check on an Airbus A380 operated by China Southern Airlines.
The aircraft, bearing registration B-6136, was inducted on 1 March, and GAMECO adds that work on the aircraft included the refurbishment of 18 galleys, 14 lavatories and 506 seats.
"During the check, the aircraft was jacked up for landing gear shaft inspection. Panels of cabin, cargo compartment, wing and airframe were opened for cleaning and inspection of corrosion, dents and scratches. Borescope [checks were] carried out for the engine."
GAMECO is scheduled to complete the six-year check on four other A380s operated by China Southern over the next two years. It is also looking to offer the same checks to other A380 operators.
The MRO previously completed its first A380 1C-check in 2013, and first 2C-check in 2015.
