Guangzhou Aircraft Maintenance (GAMECO) is to open two new facilities in response to growing mainland Chinese demand for aircraft maintenance services.

A new three-bay widebody hangar is to be built at Baiyun International Airport in Guangzhou, and land has been allocated for two more similar hangars to be built in the future. The company is also planning to open a paint hangar and a two-bay hangar for Boeing 737 and 757 aircraft at a new site in Wuhan.

According to GAMECO, the Baiyun development "-will match the growth of shareholder China Southern Airlines and the airlines of the Asia- Pacific region".

The company also proposes to set up an aircraft maintenance training school. "Facilities alone will not be enough to cope with [growing] demand," according to the company.
