GAMESA AERONAUTICA OF SPAIN HAS delivered the first wing set for the Embraer EMB-145 regional jet. The Vitoria based company, a risk-sharing partner in the EMB-145, is also responsible for the design and supply of the body to wing fairings and the nacelle, including the thrust reverser, which is being built in association with Hurel Dubois. The French concern has recently signed a £11 million risk-sharing deal for UK aerospace engineer, Cleveland Guest to design and manufacture thrust-reverser components. The contract is the largest yet for the Lancashire based company, following a management buy-out in 1994, which rescued it from the hands of the receiver after its parent company collapsed. The EMB-145 is scheduled to have its maiden flight later this year.
