The UK Guild of Air Pilots and Air Navigators (GAPAN) invites applications for the following flying scholarships:

The Breitling Guild Flying Scholarship, a new scholarship, provides a fully funded course of flying and ground training in accordance with the 40h UK Civil Aviation Authority-approved syllabus to qualify for a private pilot's licence;

The Norman Motley Scholarship is valued at up to £1,500 ($2,300), and is made to the holder of a professional pilot's licence (aeroplanes), including BCPL(A), to contribute to the gaining of the assistant flying-instructor rating;

The Hunting Aviation Award, sponsored by Hunting Aviation, is made to a pilot already qualified to at least BCPL(A) standard and provides up to £2,000 for further training to acquire a type rating or instrument rating.

Applications for the Hunting and Norman Motley awards must be in by July/August 1996 and those for the Breitling Scholarship by the end of May 1996.
