FDN Improved fuel efficiency from General Electric's GE90-115B engines is the key factor in enabling Boeing to offer airlines more range on its longer-range 777 airliners.

The enhancements for the Boeing 777-300ER (Extended Range) will become available by the end of 2005 and will be offered on new aircraft and for retrofit on those already in service.

The improvements will see the aircraft's maximum range increase by 175nm to 7,880nm (14,594km).

Its centre of gravity limits will also rise, providing greater cargo capability when the 777 operates at its highest gross weight.

Other changes see drag reducing aerodynamic improvements such as wing vortex generator changes and ram air system modifications, and interior changes that reduce weight.

As part of the package, airlines can choose an option that stores food and beverage carts directly above the passenger cabin rather than on the main deck.

That would provide airlines with more main-deck space for se
