With the first Level D certification of Evans & Sutherland's (E&S) latest commercial visual system imminent on a Boeing 737 simulator at Lufthansa Flight Training, General Electric Commercial Aviation Training (GECAT) has ordered the EP-1000CT image generator to upgrade an Airbus A320 machine.

GECAT is the eighth customer for the EP-1000CT, and over 20 systems have been sold. Lufthansa was the launch customer in mid-2002, and has ordered 10 systems for upgraded and new simulators at its Berlin and Frankfurt training centres.

GECAT is also a customer for CAE's rival Tropos PC-based visual system, for an Embraer 170 simulator on order from the Canadian manufacturer. Tropos first received Level D certification in November last year on a simulator at CAE's Amsterdam training centre.
