New Piper has completed the second and final stage of its extensive market study, designed to evaluate the company’s product strategy for the future. The Vero Beach, Florida-based company, which is owned by American Capital Strategies, says it has interviewed over 1,000 existing and potential customers to determine where niches for new aircraft exist both within its product line and in the general aviation market. The study also examines where improvements are needed to the New Piper line-up. Details of the strategy, including a decision on whether to launch a personal jet, could be made public later this year, New Piper says.

Medical opinion
Australian pilots are being given another month to comment on proposals to overhaul the way private and student pilot medical certificates are processed. The extension follows a strong response to the Civil Aviation Safety Authority’s request for industry comment on proposals to eliminate unnecessary administrative costs. More than 400 responses had been received by late June.
