As the use of transponders becomes increasingly important in modern warfare, Global Aviation Logistics (Hall 2B, Stand G20) is introducing a quick and simple way to test them.

The AN/APM-424(V)3 interrogator/transponder test set is a small hand-held unit that captures an image of the aircraft and quickly relays whether the transponder system is fully functional.

Developed in partnership with Goodrich JcAIR Test Systems the system consists of an integrated monopulse antenna, electronics package including a transmitter, two channel digital receiver and micro processor and an LED display unit.

In a simple "point and shoot" operation, data such as daily mission codes are captured and can be saved down for later analysis.

The operator can be up to 250ft (76m) away from the aircraft when using this equipment.

"I don't believe there is any other such product on the market with this level of capability," says sales director Ronald Cappeletti.

"The first models of this product were delivered to the USAF about six months ago and I think the product would be especially useful during peacekeeping missions."
