GMF AeroAsia has signed a memorandum of understanding with FL Technics' Indonesian unit, PT Avia Technics Dirgantara, to explore cooperation in the aircraft maintenance sector.
The Garuda Indonesia subsidiary says it hopes to “enhance” its capacity and seek a potential partner for its Batam MRO facility, through this agreement. FL Technics is a Lithuanian MRO player.
“Considering [FL Technics’] global footprint, we [are] optimistic this partnership could contribute some added value for GMF’s business,” says GMF president and chief executive Juliandra Nurtjahjo.
GMF has turned its focus back to setting up a Batam MRO facility after it called off a joint venture agreement with Bintan Aviation Investments (BAI) in April 2016.
Partnerships with domestic and international MRO players are just one of GMF’s three strategies for growth.
