Several Asian manufacturers are bidding to supply nacelles to Goodrich for integration on the International Aero Engines V2500 and other powerplants.
Industry sources say Goodrich's engine systems division has requested bids from several Asian companies. Composites Technology Research Malaysia subsidiary Aero-Composites Technologies, Taiwan's Aerospace Industrial Development Corporation and China's BHA Aero Composite Parts are bidding for the work. Tianjin-based BHA is a joint venture company owned by Boeing, Hexcel and China Aviation Industry.
Goodrich is to source the parts in Asia to cut costs. Bombardier's UK Shorts plant in Northern Ireland, hit by a strike this month over redundancies, supplies Goodrich with composite nacelles.
