Gulfstream and Pratt & Whitney Canada jointly celebrated a significant milestone yesterday when the business jet maker took delivery of the 1,000th PW300-series turbofan engine.

The engine will be installed on a super mid-size Gulfstream 200 later this year. There are now more than 40 Gulfstream 200s in service with a combined total of well over 17,000 flight hours.

Powered by two of the 6,000 lb (27kN) thrust P&WC engines, the Gulfstream 200 has the longest range in its class, flying up to 3,620nm (6,700km) at speeds of up to .82 Mach. Carrying 8-10 passengers, the aircraft cruises at 41,000ft (12,500m), well above commercial traffic airways.
