Gulfstream delivered the first G650 on the same day that the US Federal Aviation Administration granted the company a production certificate for the long-range business jet.
The two milestones on 20 December complete a nearly five-year development and flight-test process for the Rolls-Royce BR725-powered aircraft that overcame the tragedy of a fatal crash in Roswell, New Mexico on 2 April 2011.
Gulfstream once expected to deliver 17 G650s by end-year, but acknowledged earlier this month that the total figure would be reduced "somewhat".

The launch customer for the G650 has never been identified.
The FAA approved a type certificate for the G650 on 7 September. More recently, the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) also has granted type approval for the G650, Gulfstream says.
On 14 November, Gulfstream delivered the first G280 super mid-size business jet to a customer.
