Gulfstream Aerospace has launched a brokerage service to help owners of existing mid- and large-cabin Gulfstreams to sell their aircraft. The move is designed to not only streamline the process of buying a new Gulfstream in the short-term, but to bring new customers into the family for the longer term.
"We look at this as an opportunity to expand our marketplace; getting people initially into pre-owned aircraft and eventually into new aircraft," said Gulfstream pre-owned aircraft sales vice-president Jim Ross, who will oversee the new group. "This just gives us another piece of the entire customer care programme. If somebody says they'd like to sell their airplane, who better than Gulfstream to help them?"
Through the Gulfstream Pre-owned Brokerage branded programme, the company said it will use its proprietary worldwide customer and prospect database to help sell pre-owned aircraft, with the sales team developing market summaries of competitive aircraft.
"Gulfstream will assist with finance options and competitive rates, as well as consult with the new owner regarding aircraft customisation," the company said. "New owners will also be able to take advantage of a number of Gulfstream aircraft programmes, including Gulfstream's PlaneParts prepaid parts programme."
Ross said Gulfstream had not been "actively pursuing" brokered aircraft in the past. "If it came up in terms of sale of new aircraft, we would get involved, but we weren't really pursuing it. We're taking a more proactive stance now."
He added that the group is "up and running" but has yet to complete any deals.
