As Bombardier announced the Global Vision integrated flightdeck for its Global family of business jets, Gulfstream revealed further cockpit enhancements for its rival series of large-cabin aircraft.

With its second-generation enhanced vision system, EVS II, expected to be certificated by year-end, Gulfstream has selected Rockwell Collins to develop a new head-up display, HUD II, for certification across its entire family in 2009. This uses an active-matrix LCD with LED backlighting to shrink the overhead unit. There will be two sizes, for the large-cabin G350/450/500/550 and super mid-size G200, with the potential for a third, smaller unit for the mid-size G150.

Gulfstream expects certification of its synthetic vision primary flight display by year-end and plans further enhancements to its PlaneView integrated flightdeck, including controller-pilot datalink and GPS WAAS, in 2009.
