Gyoplane developer Groen Brothers Aviation (GBA) has secured $50 million equity financing over three years from an institutional investor. Salt Lake City, Utah-based GBA says the investment should be sufficient to certificate the Hawk 4 four-seat turbine-powered gyroplane and allow production to start. GBA admits it is about two years away from certification. The Gyroplane is a cross between a helicopter and a fixed wing aircraft. The rotors are not powered but are pushed around as the machine is driven forwards by its pusher engine. The aircraft will be targeted at airborne law enforcement, air taxi and traffic monitoring markets.
