China's Hainan Airlines is to acquire Shanxi Airlines through a complex equity deal approved by state authorities. It will set up Shanxi Airlines Co, which it will majority own. Shanxi Airlines Corp and Hainan-subsidiary Changan Airlines will each own small stakes. Hainan will contribute most assets including aircraft to the new operation.
