China's Hainan Airlines plans to start new passenger services between Shanghai and Brussels and Shanghai and Vienna.

The carrier has applied to begin a Shanghai-Brussels service from March 2010, says the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC).

The new route will be operated five times a week, it adds.

Hainan is also set to start a daily Shanghai-Vienna service from April 2010, says the CAAC.

Both routes will be operated with Airbus A330s.

No carriers operate non-stop from Shanghai to Brussels but Hainan has a thrice-weekly non-stop A330 service from Beijing to Brussels, according to Innovata.

No passenger airlines operate from Shanghai to Vienna, says Innovata.
