Hamilton Sundstrand announced yesterday at Asian Aerospace that its APS 3200 auxiliary power unit (APU) has now been selected by three Asian airlines for the 34 Airbus A320 aircraft in their fleets.
Two further aircraft will be retrofitted with the APUs in a total deal worth more than $20 million over the next decade.
Shenyang-based China Northern, already a Hamilton Sundstrand customer, selected the company's APUs for 23 new Airbus A320s it plans to add to its fleet, bringing to 33 the number of its aircraft fitted with the APS 3200.

Chengdu's Sichuan Airlines is also an existing customer, operating eight A320s. The two leased and four new aircraft will expand the fleet to 14, all equipped with APS 3200s and covered by a full support maintenance agreement.
The order from Hanoi's Vietnam Airlines was for its five new A320s, the first of which was delivered late last year.
The APS 3200 APU currently flies on more than 900 aircraft around the world and has accumulated 7.5 million hours - and nine million cycles - since entering service on the Airbus A320.
