Hawaiian Airlines and JetBlue Airways signed codeshare and frequent flier agreements today, providing connections between the airlines at Los Angeles International Airport and New York's John F Kennedy International Airport.

Honolulu-based Hawaiian will place its HA code on JetBlue flights between JFK and Boston, Buffalo, Burlington, Charlotte, Ft. Lauderdale, Ft. Myers, Orlando, Portland (Maine), Raleigh/Durham, Rochester, Syracuse, Tampa and West Palm Beach, as well as on flights between Los Angeles and Boston, JFK and Ft. Lauderdale, under the terms of the agreement.

New York-based JetBlue will not place its code on any of Hawaiian's flights however its passengers will be able to connect to flights to, from and within Hawaii on the carrier with a single ticket, says JetBlue.

Both airlines' frequent fliers will be able to accrue and redeem miles on eligible flights beginning 5 June.

"We are pleased to see our partnership with Hawaiian continue to blossom and we look forward to sharing our home at JFK," says Scott Resnick, director of alliances and partnerships at JetBlue, in a statement.

Hawaiian begins its new once daily flight between Honolulu and JFK with an Airbus A330-200 on 5 June. It already operates twice daily service between Honolulu and Los Angeles, according to Innovata schedules.

Honolulu flights will arrive and depart from JetBlue's terminal five at JFK.

Hawaiian and JetBlue announced plans to codeshare when they signed an interline agreement in January.
