Hawker Beechcraft Corporation (HBC) has appointed India’s InterGlobe General Aviation as exclusive sales representative for its Hawker product line and as authorised service centre provider for all Hawker Beechcraft products in the region. HBC kicked off the new relationship with a Hawker 4000 sale to InterGlobe, which will be delivered in 2008.

With a significant presence across several sectors of the Indian travel market, including IndiGo airlines, InterGlobe has the financial muscle to expand rapidly throughout the region. According to Aditya Ghosh, group general counsel, the service centre will open for operations in New Dellhi in around 30 days and expand “where the market takes us”. He foresees a strong need for FBO and MRO services.

India’s minister of state for civil aviation, Praful Patel, was present and said: “Business aviation has a strong role to play in India’s development.” He was bullish about aviation’s prospects, especially in light of today’s announcement that CAE is due to train 400 new pilots.
