Hawker de Havilland has secured a A$12.5 million ($9.92 million) grant from the Australian government for its participation in the Boeing 787 programme.

The Boeing-owned company is a "tier one" partner in the 787 programme, responsible for the design and manufacture of the aircraft's wing movable trailing-edge surfaces, including the flaps, ailerons, spoilers, hinge panels and linkages.

Hawker de Havilland, which also produces wing tips for the Airbus A380, was unable to secure a bigger workshare in that programme because there was previously no mechanism for it to secure government funding.
