Honeywell has become the latest company to join the emerging supply chain for the Bell Helicopter 525 Relentless.
Bell selected the power and systems specialist to supply the air-cycle RE100 auxiliary power unit, which will drive the Honeywell AC-5510 environmental control system.
The RE100 will be adapted for the super-medium helicopter from its current application on the Learjet 45 light business jet, where it is rated at 17shp and weighs 35.8kg (79lb).
Bell plans to fly the 525 Relentless in 2014 for the first time, and has not yet given a timetable for certification and entry into service.
The 525 Relentless also includes General Electric supplying the CT7-2F1 engines, BAE Systems providing the fly-by-wire system, Moog supplying flight control components, Garmin delivering the integrated avionics system, Mecaer supplying the landing gear and GKN Aerospace and Triumph providing structures.
