Lebanon is to receive MD Helicopters MD530Gs and Boeing Insitu ScanEagle unmanned air vehicles as part of a new military assistance package from the USA. Announced by the US embassy in Beirut on 13 December, the deal is worth more than $120 million.
Six MD530Gs will be provided, along with the same number of ScanEagles. Additional supplies will include communication and night-vision equipment, the embassy says.
Washington has provided Lebanon with equipment valued at almost $1 billion since 2007, which also included Cessna AC208s and Sierra Nevada/Embraer A-29 Super Tucano light-attack aircraft. The Lebanese air force received its first two A-29s in October 2017, and will take another four in the coming months.
