Japan’s coast guard has ordered an additional Airbus Helicopters H225 rotorcraft to serve in the search and rescue as well as other roles.
The new helicopter will arrive at the end of 2018, and will be the sixth example of the type in the coast guard fleet, says Airbus Helicopters in a statement.
In addition to search and rescue, the 11t rotorcraft will serve in the security enforcement, border patrol, and disaster relief missions.
Airbus Helicopters adds that 24 Super Puma family helicopters are operated in Japan by both civil and parapublic operators.
