China Northern Airlines has chosen Honeywell (Hall 1, A8) to supply avionics for 23 new Airbus A319 aircraft being added to its fleet.

The deal covers RDR-4B weather radar systems, traffic alert and collision avoidance systems (TCAS), transponders, enhanced ground proximity warning systems (EGPWS), flight management computers (FMC), high-frequency (HF) communication radios, flight data recorders (FDR), cockpit voice recorders (CVR) and the communication management software for the Airbus Air Traffic Services Unit (ATSU).

The RDR-4B weather radar can show thunderstorms, turbulence and low-level windshear.

The aircraft are to be leased from International Lease Finance Corporation (ILFC) with deliveries expected to begin later this year.
