OnAir has secured new business from Hong Kong Airlines through a deal for the company's Mobile OnAir and Internet OnAir in-flight passenger communication services.
The agreement covers four Airbus A330-200s and six A330-300s scheduled for delivery beginning in November 2010.
Passengers on Hong Kong Airlines will have the option of using their own mobile phones or smartphones to make and receive phone calls, send text messages and emails and access the Internet. Access to the Internet through laptops will be offered either through a wireless or wired connection as OnAir supplies both GSM/GPRS and Wi-Fi Internet.
The OnAir GSM mobile phone solution uses the Immarsat SwiftBroadband satcom, using fourth-generation satellites.
Hong Kong Airlines joins a list of OnAir customers that include Ryanair, Egypt Air, AirAsia, Qatar Airways, Royal Jordanian and Airblue.
