Airbus has appointed Christoph Hoppe as its new government relations executive vice-president, replacing Philippe Delmas who becomes a special adviser to Airbus chief Gustav Humbert. Hoppe’s appointment marks the first time a German national has headed the strategically key role of government relations and communications at the European aircraft manufacturer. He assumes the new executive vice-president role from Airbus’s cabin manufacturing unit in Laupheim, Germany, where he was chief executive and as such one of Humbert’s deputies when the new Airbus chief executive was chief operating officer.
