Israel Aerospace Industries is stepping up its efforts to partner with Brazilian contractors by strengthening ties with local industry, says chief executive Joseph Weiss. "We already have a number of business proposals which are currently under review," he says.
At the Latin American Aerospace and Defence (LAAD) exhibition, opening in Rio de Janeiro on 9 April, IAI will present satellite technologies, a variety of unmanned air systems, mission aircraft, intelligence systems, integrated maritime solutions, such as the Barak 8 air defence system, radars, and command and control systems.
Weiss is leading a delegation of experts to Brazil, where they will meet defence, military, and industrial officials.
IAI has been selected by the Brazilian air force to execute an air-to-air refuelling project involving two Boeing 767-300 aircraft and, for the past several months, one of Brazil's 26 federal states has been operating command and control systems made by the company. These systems provide decision makers with an ongoing snapshot of events occurring across various territories. Brazil's federal police also continues to utilise IAI's Heron UAS.
"We hope in the coming period to announce further developments," says Weiss.
