As the new E-Jet E2 prototype builds its flight-test hours, Embraer is hopeful that it will be able to confirm its attendance at July’s Farnborough air show by the end of this month.
The first of the new Pratt & Whitney PW1000G-powered aircraft family, the E190-E2, made its first flight ahead of schedule on 24 May. If early flight-testing proceeds well, Embraer could be able to ferry the aircraft over to Europe for the air show which begins on 11 July.
“The aircraft has flown earlier than we’d given guidance,” says John Slattery, Embraer’s chief commercial officer for its commercial aviation arm. “I’d love to have the aircraft fly at Farnborough.”
Slattery says the decision lies with Embraer’s chief operating officer, Luis Carlos Affonso. “I have an aspiration that Luis could share the aircraft with us for a little bit of marketing for a few days.”
Embraer says aims to confirm the E2’s Farnborough attendance by the end of June.
Meanwhile Bombardier is expected to bring the rival CSeries to Farnborough this year, while the Airbus A320neo may put in an appearance at the show.
