IATA gave its second Global Aviation Leadership Award to Yang Yuanyuan, minister of the Civil Aviation Authority of China in recognition of his work in liberalising the country’s aviation market and bringing air traffic control in line with global standards. Yang is only the second recipient of the award since it was created in 2002. ICAO president Dr Assad Kotaite received the honour in 2003.
