Chidambaram joins IATA

The former managing director of Air Mauritius, Vinod Chidambaram, has been recruited by IATA to strengthen the association's presence and activities in Africa. He has been appointed as regional vice-president for Africa. He will be based in Johannesburg.

"Key projects like the global introduction of e-ticketing by 2007 will require significant efforts in Africa," said IATA director general Giovanni Bisignani.

Chidambaram left Air Mauritius in October last year. Since then he has already been working with IATA, alongside the International Airline Training Fund, as the proejct leader to initiate a training programme in Africa.
