Spanish carrier Iberia has inaugurated a new MRO facility at Barcelona's El Prat airport, with operations due to begin in November. The 24,000m² (258,000ft²) hangar can accommodate the Airbus A380 superjumbo, but will be specialised in A320 narrowbody C checks. It is the product of a construction project launched by Iberia and public authority CZFB in 2006, with a budget of €26 million ($36.2 million). An initial staff of 60 will eventually grow to 200, says Iberia.
