An Ilyushin Il-76 four-jet freighter crashed and burned about 1km (0.5nm) short of Belgrade Airport, Yugoslavia, killing all ten people on board. The aircraft, belonging to Ykaterinburg, Russian-based charter airline Spair, had taken off from Belgrade bound for Malta at about 03.00 local time on 19 August, but, about 15min after take-off, the captain reported what appears to have been total electrical failure. After circling for nearly 3h to burn off fuel, the captain attempted an approach, but hit the ground short of the runway.
