Development activities on Cassidian's Talarion unmanned air system project might have been formally shelved earlier this year, but the EADS company has clearly not given up hope of seeing the design become a production reality one day.
On show as part of the EADS external exhibit, Cassidian's proposed "European unmanned aerial system" is an unbranded full-scale model of its Talarion, which was axed after failing to secure funding commitments from the governments of France, Germany and Spain.

Previously intended to meet a broad range of operational requirements, the concept could still form the basis for a future collaborative medium-altitude, long-endurance UAS effort, should the company attract financial support.
Meanwhile, Cassidian's preparations for the show have been affected by the surprise departure of long-term chief executive Stefan Zoller, who left EADS with immediate effect on 3 September "to pursue new professional challenges". Newly installed successor Bernhard Gerwert takes over at the company's defence unit, which is also heavily involved in the Eurofighter programme and a major stakeholder in missile manufacturer MBDA.
