Boeing is back in Berlin as an exhibitor for the first time in a decade as part of efforts to raise the profile of its recently rebranded Defence, Space & Security division. The move by the US giant marks a rethink of its long-standing policy of exhibiting at only one major European show a year, which saw the company attending only Paris and Farnborough for the past 10 years.

"It's a reflection of the continuing effort to position Defence, Space & Security in the international marketplace," says Beatrice Bracklo, Boeing's director of communications for Germany, Austria and Switzerland. "In the context of an international show, visitors come to see Boeing," she adds. "There are a large variety of factors that play into these decisions." Boeing's stand focuses on its range of military rotorcraft including the Chinook transport and Apache attack helicopters, as well as the C-17 fixed-wing airlifter.
