KAL chairman jailed

Korean Air (KAL) chairman Cho Yang-ho has been sentenced to four years in prison. Cho has also been fined 30 billion won ($27 million). while the carrier has been fined 80 billion won as part of the largest tax evasion scandal in South Korean history. Cho was arrested in November on charges of evading taxes and using millions of dollars in company funds for private use.

Beijing IPO

Beijing Capital Airport has become the third publicly traded airport operator in the Asia-Pacific region and the seventh worldwide with its listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. This followed an initial public offering (IPO) in January.

SIA floats subsidiaries

Singapore Airlines (SIA) plans separate stock exchange listings of subsidiaries Singapore Airport Terminal Services and SIA Engineering. Initial public offerings are expected in April. SIA says the move is not designed specifically to raise capital, but to allow the two companies "to be more independent and grow faster than if they remained fully owned by SIA".
