Vanguard to boost short-haul

Kansas-based Vanguard Airlines has signed a letter of intent to lease six Boeing 737-200s from US Airways Leasing &Sales for delivery in the first quarter of next year. By expanding its fleet of 13 737-200s the airline says it will be able to pursue its strategy of serving high density, high fare, short-haul markets

DHL adds capacity

DHL has ordered two Boeing 757Fs from Ansett Worldwide Aviation Services (AWAS). The freight and logistics company will enter the aircraft into service between January and March next year.

Boost for Chautauqua

Chautauqua Airlines is to lease 10 Saab A340s from Saab Aircraft Leasing, which is using the aircraft to replace its 19-seat British Aerospace Jetstream 31s. The new additions are being delivered from December through to May next year and will help the airline expand its services flown under the US Airways Express name.

Eastern Caribbean launch

Air Jamaica Express is starting a Caribbean inter-island service, called Eastern Caribbean Express, using three Bombardier de Havilland Dash 8-100s from Air Jamaica Express' fleet. The new carrier will be based in St Lucia and from February will fly from Barbados to Dominica, Grenada, St Lucia, St Vincent and Tobago.
