India’s Jet Airways has agreed to acquire ten Boeing 787-8 aircraft to develop further the carrier’s long-haul fleet.
In a statement to the Bombay Stock Exchange in Mumbai the airline says it has executed a purchase agreement with the US airframer.
It will take deliveries of the twin-jets between July 2011 and December 2012. The airline has not disclosed an engine selection for the 787s.
The carrier adds: “Under the purchase agreement the company also has the option to substitute other models of Boeing aircraft.”
Jet Airways has a number of Boeing 777-300ER and Airbus A330-200 aircraft on order and will begin receiving these around March and April this year.
