Indian start-up MDLR Airlines is preparing to launch services using leased regional jets and plans to order between 10 and 15 turboprops or jets by the end of the year.
Nupur Mehta of the chairman's secretariat says MDLR will start services on a Chandigarh-Delhi-Ranchi-Kolkata return route on 14 March with two 70-seat BAe Avro RJ70s leased from BAE Systems. He says the carrier plans to add three more between August and December. It also plans to add helicopters.
MDLR is being established by real estate group MDLR and it is headed by group chairman Gopal Goyal.
