Flight International online news 13:00GMT: Indian low-cost start-up IndiGo has selected International Aero Engines V2500 engines to power its fleet of 100 Airbus A320 family aircraft. The $1.7 billion deal is IAE's biggest single firm order and includes a package of engine upgrades and aftermarket support.

“The inherent fuel burn advantages of the V2500 engine and the V2500Select [support] program proved to be the key differentiators in this decision, especially in terms of the operating cost benefits to our operation, the product improvements…and the unique approach to services IAE has adopted,” says IndiGo president and CEO Bruce Ashby.
IAE president Mark King adds: “This is a significant order for IAE, not just in terms of the numbers involved, but because V2500Select proved such a decisive factor in what was a very demanding competition. We are proud to have them as our launch customer for the programme.”
