Indian budget carrier IndiGo has extended its airfame maintenance contract with the engineering division of SriLankan Airlines.
The MRO provider has been conducting C-checks on IndiGo’s Airbus A320 fleet since 2009 on an annual contractual basis.
The new agreement came into effect on 1 April and has a “multi-million dollar” revenue volume, says SriLankan.
In January, the airline's MRO division completed the 100th C-check for IndiGo’s A320 fleet, which now comprises 78 aircraft, SriLankan adds.
After senior executives from both airlines met in Delhi in late 2013, both carriers are now planning to expand their co-operation to ticket sales and flight training, says SriLankan’s head of engineering Priyantha Rose.
