Aerofoam Interiors believes its new 24kg/m³ recyclable flotation foam aircraft seat cushion is the lightest available, and is keen to sign up a first customer.

The foam contains a soy component which replaces "a percentage of the poly oil", and leads to "no performance loss whatsoever", says Aerofoam vice-president of sales James Barrett, who believes that the company is "pushing the envelope in lightweight cushions".

On the customer front, Aerofoam "hasn't signed anyone up yet but there's been an extreme amount of interest", says Barrett. "We want to get our product out there, but it will be very difficult for us to sign someone up at the show."

Aerofoam also produces what Barrett says is "the first memory foam seat cushion that's firehard".
