Life vest fetishists beware - no more fiddling around with the beloved safety gear on your next flight!
Miami-based EAM Worldwide has developed a RFID device for life vest containers, which detects whether the equipment has been tampered with.
The "RFID Safe-seal" allows to check the serviceability of life vests on aircraft with "100% accuracy", says Eloy Leal, director of engineering and operations. Each tamper tag has a unique number, which is triggered when service personnel walk with mobile RFID scanners through the cabin.
