IFE Services' customer list for PlayStation Portable (PSP) in-flight entertainment units has grown to seven airlines, but the UK firm says it has a further 32 potential clients in the pipeline.

Thomas Cook, Thomson Airways and Viking Air are among the previously-announced customers for PSP units. IFE Services managing director Andy McEwan reveals that EasyJet and Iberia are also offering PSP systems to passengers.

Iberia is an example of how some non-budget carriers are viewing the PSP as a viable IFE solution for premium customers. "Iberia has taken PSPs for business class and made them part of the seat price," says McEwan, noting that PSP distribution can serve both customer service and onboard revenue functions for airlines.

In all, IFE Services is currently providing 3,500 PSP units to its seven customers.

Separately, the company has signed a games development and distribution agreement with Shanghai-based TipCat Interactive.

Under the deal, IFE Services will develop the technology to bring TipCat's suite of games to the airline IFE market in the region.

"We see the partnership with TipCat as part of a greater collaboration with Chinese companies going forward as we look to strengthen our position in the country," says McEwan.
