Zodiac Aerospace has enhanced its Fusio business-class seat, introduced as a concept at the Aircraft Interiors show in 2014, and at this year's event is looking for a launch customer to bring it into service as soon as possible.
The aircraft interiors manufacturer is marketing the seat as offering "the comfort of first class but the space of business class", says Zodiac executive vice-president of communication and investor relations Pierre-Anthony Vastra.
Fusio includes a sofa-style seat that converts into a fully flat bed, plus a 27in (68cm) screen, a coat room, direct aisle access and the privacy afforded by a "mini-suite" style layout.
"The seat offers a much better use of space compared with other first-class seats," says Vastra, adding that it falls into a category somewhere between business and first. "We're still selling first-class seats but we also identified a category for this kind of product."
A launch customer has yet to be signed up for the seat, but it is ready to go into service "as soon as possible", says Vastra. "We are going to get a lot of interest during the show but we need to have lots of discussions."
