Traces of explosives have been detected on human remains recovered from the crash site of an EgyptAir Airbus A320, the Egyptian civil aviation ministry has indicated.
In a statement posted on Facebook, the ministry adds that the public prosecutor has been informed.
There were 66 occupants on board the A320 when it crashed in the Mediterranean in May. None survived. The jet had been operating flight MS804 from Paris to Cairo.
In July, investigators disclosed that the existence of a fire had been discussed in the cockpit prior to the onset of the crash sequence.
Flight-data recorder content, and an analysis of retrieved debris, had already pointed to a possible fire, consistent with preliminary data retrieved from automated air-ground communications relayed from the flight.
